Description

The city of Solem rose to prominence during the height of the Gwerian Empire, as the seat of the empire's influence in the North-West of Auriin. After the fall of Gwer, Solem was one of its last strongholds.

During the early days of Gerhart Greycastle's reign in Carricall, the last remnants of imperial influence were eradicated from the city. Solem continued to develop under the protection and guidance of Lord Greycastle, until it achieved its independence in the mid-14th century of the Seventh Era. Shortly thereafter, the half-gnome Lance Floquart was elected as the city's ruler, and granted a lordship by Wymar Greycastle.

Solem became the de-facto capital of Lelanëon, by virtue of its being the most developed settlement in the province. This status was ratified by the Coeminster Pact when Lord Floquart joined the alliance in 7e/1473.
